 3rd stage Uzerche - Mansac:
100% Corrèze department
This 3rd race day will most probably be the most difficult day of the 2010 edition.
The peloton will start in Uzerche. This finish city of the 2007 edition (stage victory for
Pierre Rolland) will this year be the start of a stage towards Mansac, which receives the race for the first time.
What a route for this 3rd stage which will completely take place in the Corrèze department! This stage will be similar to the one between Brive and Cublac in 2008
(stage victory for Sébastien Hinault who also took the final overall victory in Limoges). At the stage finish we therefore think there will be some gaps which can cancel yesterday's performances
in the time trial.
This will be a difficult day, just like Mathieu Perget, last year's winner of the Tour du Limousin, wished for. The different climbs and descents in this stage will almost for sure reduce all chances for a sprint to zero. 7 to 8 could have been classified as official climbs: 4 of them have been selected by the organisation, one more as usual.
Right from km 34, the Côte de Masseret will probably lead to a first selection. But the most difficult climb of the day will be mid race, at km 97, Côte de Vertougit. This climb, a 1st category climb, is difficult both by its length and by its steepness (several parts at almost 15%).
In the 40 last kilometers, the Côte de Cublac (km 159) and Côte de
Palinières (Km 177 - with parts up to 12 %) will be important for the result of the stage. The finish in Mansac will be at the end of a short climb (1.1 km at 12
%): just to make sure the selection for the stage win is complete!
